Every advertisement and media campaign has at its head a creative director or art director. They are what give the project its creative direction and focus. They are responsible for the overall look and feel of an advertising campaign and typically work closely with members of the product development team, sales and marketing team, and others to ensure that the brand of the business is communicated in a strong manner and that the resulting sales and exposure meet the goals of the campaign. Art Director Job Description:

While the job description can vary significantly depending on the type of the organization, and its size, there are commonalities. Most Art Directors will find that their daily tasks include strategic development of campaigns with the coordination of the creative department, copy-writing, sales, and marketing as well as members from the logistics division. In addition, they formulate the creative direction for the project’s approach including the overall style to represent the brand. Photographs, logos, graphics, video, and animation are all used in a variety of ways. Many times, it will be the Art Director or the Creative Director’s responsibility to present the final campaign to members of the management team for final approval before the plan is implemented.

Salaries For Art Directors, Creative Directors And Digital Art Directors:

An Art Director salary is typically in the range of $75,000 to $200,000 per year, depending on the size of the organization and of the department that is being managed. A Creative Director salary is often a bit higher than the Art Director as they can have larger responsibilities and more people on their team. Salaries can range from $80,000 to over $250,000 per year depending on the organization and the part of the country located. Professionals in New York and Chicago can expect higher salaries than their counterparts in Denver or Miami. A Digital Art Director salary is typically less than the two previously mentioned positions because the job is more hyper focused and often this position reports to either a Creative Director or to the Art Director. Individuals can expect a salary in the range $55,000 to $100,000 per year depending on experience and the size of the organization.
